Hi all,

I would like to get CCNA certified. I'm a software developer and I
currently do not have any equipment to maintain. I was wondering what
is the minimum amount of equipment I'd need to get to started in order
to pass this exam. If anyone can recommend models that might be cheap
to get a hold of, that would help. I was going to buy the books and
self study and set the gear up in my home. Would that work to get my
certification?

Any help much appreciated.

Book: CCNA Official Exam Certification Library 640-802 (Wendell Odom)
Software: Dynamips for routing, Packet tracer for switching

IMHO you need to buy real hardware only if you are going to study for
CCxP or CCIE.

Ok, so, I have the "CCNA 1 Companion Guide" by Odom and Knott.

Is this the one that I need?

No, but it's better than nothing.

I've been thinking about:
