I am hoping someone can give me a little advice.
I have a smc 8014 cable modem and I need to forward a port on this
gateway device. It has a built in firewall with an "access control"
setting. I get the port forwarding but do I need to add an entry in the
access control area as well?
Thanks in advance!

There is a fine website which gives full instructions on setting up
port forwarding for most routers
http://www.portforward.com/
This should help
