Hello,

i have a PA-MC-E3 module in a 7206 which is flapping. clock source was
checked, line was checked with the local telco, module was replaced with a
new one. I'm starting to run out of ideas. Can anyone help what may
cause this?

can we get the show controller t3 and show interface when this happens?
the controller goes down first and points to a layer 1 issue.

unfortunately no, because the flap comes and goes, within around 1 sec. i
can not log in and issue show commands in time :/

our telco was investigating this problem and gave it back that it's not a
layer 1 problem. and i don't have proof that says the opposite, to make
them re-test.

It is really necessary the show controller e3 after that happens, no
matter if is few seconds after the outage happens the show will retain
at least the last 60 seconds depending on the IOS version. Just remember
to clear the statistics before (clear show interfaces and when you can a
clear controller if allowed note: this will cause it to flap). Asking
your telco to test the circuit most of the times is like asking a child
to make sure that his bedroom is clean, they always try to do less
chore. Certainly your controller to flap is a proof of layer 1 problem,
it could be misconfig or polarity problem etc, etc. Have you perform a
HW loopback test on the PA to ensure it is ok? remember that the SW are
not efficient when it comes to serial interfaces. Cheers!
