We have 3 48 port switches in the same room. Currently they are connected
with 1 straight thru cat5e between each.
Somebody said they should be connected by a crossover cable. Is that true?
Its working good with the straight thru cable now. Just curious

If it's gigabit you don't need crossover. If it's 100Meg your switches
probably support MDI-X so they will work with or without a crossover.

Better not to use a crossover if it is working fine now.

New equipment (that's not cheapest-of-the-cheap) have Auto-MDIX which
makes the flip when needed.
