Do you want to cut the audio level of the signal going out in half,
or the audio level of the signal coming in in half, or both?
Secondly, what do you mean by 'half'? A signal with half the electrical
energy? or that 'sounds' half as loud to the human ear?
does this have to work for just one phone, or could there be 2 (or more)
phones 'off-hook' at the same time on the line?
