There is an alternative.

Check http://www.newsguy.com .

I have had a Basic Newsguy - 12 month account for a while now
(years). They charge me forty dollars per year for ten gigabytes per
month of download capacity (far more than I ever use). And they have
other options if you need more download capacity.

They've got a special for Time-Warner and Verizon customers at
http://newsguy.com/freemonth.htm . Scroll down the page and you will
see reference to the Basic Newsguy - 12 month account.

This may be a viable alternative and I can recommend them. I turned
to them years ago when my old dialup ISP in Maryland discontinued their
USENET server without notifying their customers.

Fred Atkinson
