We have a PIX501 that was under a Smartnet contract, I assumed that as you
register the pack with Cisco and they take your details/email and add it to
your website login, that a renewal reminder would be emailed.

It wasn't, and I only noticed the other day that it expired in March, fine,
so I need to purchase another contract - my questions is, I still seem to
be able to get at PIX/PDM updates, which I'd have thought would be denied
once the old contract expired?

regards
Paul

Cisco is not real quick in removing access to the software - I had one go
over 3 years past expiration of the Smartnet contract.

Cisco doesn't send out renewal notices, in my experience.

(There was a time we were able to get out of a telecomms contract that
we gave less than 30 days official notice of termination for, on the
basis that the company (not Cisco) had not filled its obligation under
the contract to send us a renewal notice. They would have lost, anyhow,
as at the time of signing, we had made them rewrite that particular
standard contract term of theirs so that nenewal would not be
automatic. But it's easier to get out of a contract when the other
party violates their own contract terms, then it is on the basis
of non-standard contract terms you'd imposed on them.)
