My system of choice would be a Panasonic TA-624 or better. It has
Manual ringdown lines and allows single line sets. Phones with blank
faceplates probably cost more that phones with dials, but any industry
standard phone can be used on the Panasonic. You'd need one system
phone, both to program and see who's calling and you're good to go.
You can probably pick up a system in the used market for less than
$300.
