Set Relocation - Extension is in limbo Paul 05-04-2006

Hello All.

If I sound like I don't know what I am talking about that would be
because I don't. Looking after the phones has only recently become part
of my job description.

We have a Norstar MICS 4.0 system. Yesterday I did my first "set
relocate." This is what I did.

1. Turned set relocate on.
2. Unplugged phone X from location A.
3. Plugged phone X into location B.
4. Turned set relocate off.

It worked.

Now for the problem.

The old phone that was at location B, phone Y, had already been
unplugged before I did the set reloction for phone X. I don't know who
unplugged it or when it was unplugged, but that phone needs to be
plugged into another jack, location C. I tried turning set relocate
back on and plugging the phone into location C but it does not work.
That extension now seems to be in limbo. When I dial the number I get a
busy signal.

How do I fix this?

Please forgive the newbie question. I have search manual and the usenet
archives but I have been unable to find a solution.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Paul,

Find the maintenance section go to port DN section select Dn put in
DN number find the port cross connect that port to the proper jack. Make
sure set relocate is off.

Yes, it is the invention of the devil. For a bit of fun (NOT) try
re-initialising a system that has had relocation turned on for quite a
while. Then half the phone users complain about getting other peoples
phone calls. This will take you hours figuring out the multiple changes
required to get everyone happy. Unscambling eggs comes to mind.
