Hi all,

I though serial number reprted on the rear of 837 was the same reported as
Processor Board ID doing "sh ver"
I have 10 of them and that is true. Then we bought 20 and it is not true.
Should the serial number be reported in sh ver output or not?

Alex.

Morally, yes ;-)

The situation is perhaps as on the PIX: the number you see via
'sh ver' has to be prefixed with either 44 (older) or 88 (newer)
in order to get the full serial number.

Would you buy a used bit from this man??

They don't differ at the beginning, they are completely different!

I must phone people to associate the serial number with the location. Humph! :)

Alex.

Hi Alex,

I have the same issue with my 2600 series stuff. What I've done is just
add a line with the chassis serial number to the config:

snmp-server chassis-id XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

This may help in your situation.

Cheers,
Spencer
