I have an RCA DCM425C modem (provided by Comcast) which reboots
frequently (several times an hour) when I try and use my IP Phone
(Cisco 7960).

My laptop (IBM T42 w/Windows XP) and IP Phone are both connected to a
Cisco 871 router which tunnels everything over a VPN connection back to
my employer.

The only difference I can think of between IP Phone traffic and other
traffic is that the IP Phone packets have QoS bits set on them.

Anyone heard of problems sending packets with QoS over this modem?

I've called Comcast and they won't do anything unless they see it fail
with my PC directly connected. :-(

Kevin

Is that modem DOCSIS 1.0 or 1.1? We had trouble with our Vonage hosts
with Phazer 1.0 modems, swapped out to Moto 5101's (1.1/2.0) and all
was well.
