I have a vendor who is trying to deliver some new services to my company,
specifically my Nortel MICS phone switch. The vendor is asking me if my
switch is set for NI1 or NI2, something to do with the way caller id is
delivered. We own this system out right and currently don't have a vendor
to support it. Would someone be able to shed some light on what these
protocalls are and how I would be able to determine which protocall my phone
is setup for. All help appreciated.

NI(National ISDN) is a protocol used between your equipment and the CO
switch. If they have a DMS100 then it's NI2, but I've seen other.
Really no way for you to know for certain without calling your
provider. They'll tell you in a second.
