Simple question. (Hope there's a simple answer) We've got a Cisco
catalyst 4006 and 3548 switches. We need to allow for multicasting
between Vlan's. (Specifically we're using symantec ghost) How is this
done? Or any suggestions for alternative, like is it possible to
create some kind of uber-port that is in multiple vlan's
simultaneously?

Thx for any advice you can give.

David.

If you have L3 switches, you can always use any of multicast routing
protocols.

If you have L2 switches, AFAIK the only way is to bridge between VLANs.

Since they are on different vlans, you must have a router. So what you
have to do is add multicasting on your router.

Are these the only devices in your network? There are ramifications of
turning on multicasting so it's important to know the network.

You can use IGMP. This should help you get started:

I can't see how IGMP would help in this situation. Can you elaborate a
little more on this?
