Cox Cable hi-speed is slow. Trying to install D-Link ethernet. Winsows XP
can't find drivers. Install fails, many attempts and methods, e.g., where to
look for drivers. D-link tech support no help. Any suggestions would be much
appreciated (am about to try with another brand of E-card - which one?).

Problem solved. Cox technician installed a D-Link card that he'd brought
with him. The secret:
Just slap in the card, forget Windows' Installation "wizard" (dumb thing),
and connect at very high speed - 8.8 Gbps. Just click the browser start
icon.
My D-link was DFE 530 TX+, his is DFE 550TX.
Slow with cable via USB connection: 1.8 to 2.4 Mbps. Measured at a cox web
site, http://test.lvcm.com/
Fails: Pointed the idiot wizard every which way, to CD files and D/L'ed
files. The Wiz could not...anything.
