If you were Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options

First, the stupid question: you aren't plugging the Puppy
into a Xover port next to the XP machines cable? Some small
switches/hubs have one more jack than their capabilities.
That extra jack is an XOver for uplink.
Otherwise, dump the arp and route tables from the Linux DHCP server.
This seems more hardware than software. Try a different hub.
