In Verizon's instructions they advise to disconnect any dialup modem
before installing their wireless modem.

The modem I used for dialup is internal in my comp. Is it actually
mandatory that I disable/remove it before installing my wireless modem?

The also ask if I want to hook up to Ethernet or USB. What's the
difference?

My computer and my wife's will be working from a wireless modem, and we
do not want file sharing.

??

Just unplug dial up cable from computer. I would get into the control
center and delete the dial up connection.

Ethernet may be more reliable and faster.
