If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options

Well, it is useful for when you want to disable the internet
connection and leave the hardware powered up.

I have a Motorola SBV5220 Voice-over-IP (VoIP) cable modem and the
Standby switch allows me to disable the Internet to the NAT router and
still use the phones.
