I note from the configuration page of my Netgear DG834G adsl
modem/router/firewall/wap thing it has VPN functionality. If I buy one
each for my two offices and arrange for adsl+static IP addresses for
each, will I be able to browse their networks as though they were
local? My work networks are based on FreeBSD servers and Samba for the
windows shares.

Also, what is this about a netgear VPN client?

Thanks in advance.

Yes. You can setup a site-to-site VPN with the 2 DG834G.

For a connection between the 2 routers you dont need the VPN client.
